CANDIStudios will be the institution for my thriller 'The Other Side' because it is the best independent college around. For a college it has many professional equipment and facilities and gives young upcoming students to learn and develop skills so that one day they can move onto a more expensive more high profile institution that will mean they have more expensive equipment and better actors. Starting off with CANDIStudios is a good way for students to start off because it gives a fair amount of publicity and people can see what greatness we can do with minimal facilitates.

Distrubition

Becuae the college has a low budget our films are distributed by Vimeo.

What I have done to distribute the film so far is put it on facebook and twitter. Ive asked for comments and the things they have told me you can see from my target audience blog wordle. Also the college arranged for the thriller to be shown on a small cinema named The Screen and the feedback from that is on the target audience blog videos. Next I am planning to put the video on youtube and promote even more on facebook and twitter. Also I am going to broadcast on blackberry. These distrubutions will promote to my peers that are my age however I want to distrubute to a 18-25 audience so 200 DVD's have been made for sale so I will buy one and get my brother, A 28 year old marketer to help promote the thriller.

Justin Bieber is an example of what the social stream can do to your reputation and publicity. He went from a normal teenage boy to a  worldwide superstar

 

 

Evaluation: Who would be the audience for your media product?

• Bob is 18. He has A levels for psychology, media & film. 

• He is going to do Media in university. 

• He enjoys watching films (especially in cinema) 

• His favourite kind of films are psychological thrillers. 

• There his favourite because "I love the violence and psychological issues. Any film that has death and a character with psychological problems is my type of film" 

• His favourite films are Memento directed by Christopher Nolan, American Psycho directed by Mary Harron, Se7en directed by David Fincher & Silence of the Lambs directed by Jonathon Demme

Evaluation: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The main character in 'The Other Side' has the typical connotations of a "bad guy"

• bad
• bloody

However he is different because he is sorry for the things he does. This shocks the audience because you wont expect that from him. This alter ego twist in 'The Other Side' is what makes it a great psychological thriller. And the audience gets to delve into the strange complex mind of the murderer

The first we see in movies is the ident. Ident identifies the budget of the film or what genre the film will be

There is usually an order for the title sequence of a film. It goes a little like this:

There is also intertextuality in our thriller. The all white bathroom has been used many times in different thriller.

The Last Day

The media group has gathered together to finally finish out opening scene. Our edit has made slight changes to the title sequence and some of the cuts to make them flow better. The musc is great.The filming is great. It has been a long journey and i've learnt how to work in a group, use a camera and use many different programmes on apple mac. My favourite is soundtrack pro. I also want to learn how to edit more.

Coming Close to Deadline

I'd like to apologise for my little use of blogger. I didn't get the hang of it at first but now I do. This course has been very enjoyable, learning to film and use programmes on macs is very fun and I will definitely try to use Mac's and cameras a lot more. The thought of making my own full thriller film excites me but making a music video does more.

Alter Ego's

The theme of an alter ego is very importan in my thriller film. The main character has an alter ego. An alter-ego is a second self, a second personality or persona within a person, who is often oblivious to the persona's actions. It was coined in the early nineteenth century when dissociative identity disorder was first described by psychologists. A person with an alter-ego is said to lead a double life. There has been many stories and films over time that portreay the theme of an alter ego.

Memento

Memento has two separate stories of Leonard who can no longer build new memories. He attempts to find the murderer of his wife, which is the last thing he remembers. One story line movies forward in time while the other tells the story backwards revealing more each time. This film is very clever and keeps the audience guessing throughout

My 2nd Favourite Psychological Thriller

Se7en

A deranged serial-killer chooses seven victims who represent examples of the Seven Deadly Sins. He then views himself as akin to the Sword of God, handing out horrific punishment to these sinners. Two cops, Morgan Freeman the experienced one about to retire and Brrad Pitt the ambitious young detective hired to replace him, team up to capture the serial-killer. Unfortunately, they too become ensnared in his diabolical plan.
