Suspense

Suspense is a theme used in several aspects of media such as tv, film, stories etc. Suspense builds up tension and has an effect on the audience that makes you sit on the edge of your chair. Suspense also foreshadows events that will occur later on this creates drama and raises many questions in the audience mind. Often suspense cause a visceral effect, this means it affects our physical body for example our heart racing or screaming in terror. The bomb theory creates mass amount of tension, this is the tecqnique used by directors when the audience know something that the characters dont. Finally suspense can be created by False Plateau this is used to lull the audience into a false sense of security. Such as in Final Destination 3 at the end of the movie the main character thinks everything is ok and so does the audience however there is an accident in the train and the character dies. This shocks the audience.
